Johns Hopkins University's Milton S. Eisenhower Symposium, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017, will bring a diverse lineup of speakers to the university's Homewood campus this fall, including the governor of Ohio, a prominent comedian and The Daily Show correspondent, the leaders of the Women's March, and one of MSNBC's most popular on-air personalities.
Established in 1967 to honor the university's eighth president, the student-run symposium's mission is to bring world-class speakers to the university and the surrounding community. Past speakers have included Bernie Sanders, U.S. senator from Vermont and 2016 presidential candidate; former South Africa President Nelson Mandela; and actor and comedian Will Ferrell.
All of the events are free and open to the public, but some require tickets.

Ladies of the Women's March: Tamika Mallory, Bob Bland, Carmen Perez, and Linda Sarsour
Monday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. in Hodson Hall auditorium
The Women's March of January 2017 was a global event that included a Washington, D.C., protest that attracted a half million people to the nation's capital. The march's mission is transformative social change through the power of diverse women. Mallory and Bland are co-presidents of the group, while Perez is treasurer and Sarsour is assistant treasurer.

Joy Ann Reid
Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. in Mudd Hall, room 26
The host of MSNBC's AM Joy as well as a political analyst for the network, Joy Ann Reid will give a talk titled "Journalism in the age of fake news." Formerly the managing editor of TheGrio.com, Reid is also the author of Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons and the Racial Divide and a columnist for The Daily Beast.

John Kasich
Monday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. in Hodson Hall auditorium
John Kasich is serving his second term as governor of Ohio, the seventh-largest state in the U.S., and was also a candidate for the Republican nomination for president in 2016. Before becoming governor, Kasich was a nine-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Ohio's 12th District from 1983 to 2001. Kasich will give a talk titled "Two paths: America united or divided."

Hasan Minhaj
Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m., location TBA
Hasan Minhaj is a comedian, actor, and writer. He has been a correspondent on The Daily Show since 2014, and his standup special, Homecoming King, debuted on Netflix this year. Minhaj has a popular web series, The Truth with Hasan Minhaj, and he has appeared on Arrested Development on Netflix, HBO's Getting On, and @Midnight on Comedy Central.
