Five different players scored for the Johns Hopkins University women's soccer team as the Blue Jays pulled away in the second half for a 6-1 victory against Frostburg State on Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the Blue Jay Invitational.
Junior Ana Bengoechea opened the scoring for JHU (2-0), which is ranked No. 5 nationally among Division III teams. Kristen Hori, Meg Van de Loo, Alexa Rangecroft, and Bailey Monaco also scored for the Blue Jays, who outshot Frostburg 23-4. The Bob Cats also redirected a JHU cross into their own net, accounting for the fifth Hopkins goal.
Johns Hopkins opened its season with a 2-1 win against York (Pa.) on Saturday. The Blue Jays hit the road Wednesday for a showdown with No. 3 Messiah in Grantham, Pennsylvania.
