Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team will face Penn State in NCAA opener

Blue Jays wrap up season with upset win against No. 4 Duke

The Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team, which wrapped up its season with an upset win against No. 4 Duke on Sunday, earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament and will face No. 7 Penn State in a first-round game on Friday.

The Blue Jays (14-3), ranked No. 18 nationally, will make their second consecutive tournament appearance and fifth overall. They will square off with the Big Ten champion Nittany Lions (14-4) in Charlottesville, Virginia, with the winner moving on to face the winner of a game between Virginia and Winthrop.

Hopkins scored a 9-8 win against the Blue Devils in Durham, North Carolina, on Sunday afternoon. JHU's three losses this season came against teams seeded among the tournament's top six—No. 1 seed Maryland, No. 5 Boston College, and No. 6 Stony Brook.
