Football: Unbeaten Johns Hopkins to host Wesley in NCAA playoff matchup

Blue Jays (10-0) make fourth trip in five years to DIII playoffs

The Johns Hopkins football team, which capped a perfect regular season with a 52-21 win at McDaniel on Saturday, will host Wesley in an NCAA first-round playoff game on Saturday at noon.

The Blue Jays (10-0) are making their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA playoffs and their fourth in the past five years. Last year, JHU defeated Washington & Jefferson 42-10 in its playoff opener, then was eliminated by eventual national champion Mount Union 55-13 in the second round.

Wesley (8-2), which is located in Dover, Del., is making its ninth consecutive playoff appearance and advanced to the quarterfinals last season. In the only previous meeting between the two schools, Wesley defeated JHU 12-0 in a 2009 NCAA quarterfinal game. The Wolverines average 31.3 points and 408.4 yards per game.

The winner of Saturday's game will advance to face the winner of Saturday's matchup between Ithaca and Framingham State. The complete NCAA Division III bracket is available at ncaa.com.
