JHU rolls past Michigan 17-8 in first-ever meeting

Seven players score at least two goals for unbeaten Blue Jays

Brandon Benn scored three goals and Zach Palmer added two goals and three assists to lead the Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team to a 17-8 win against Michigan at Homewood Field on Saturday. It was the first meeting between the two schools.

John Kaestner, John Ranagan, Rex Sanders, Ryan Brown, and Lee Coppersmith each had a pair of goals for the fourth-ranked Blue Jays (3-0), who raced to a 7-1 lead after the first period and led 11-3 at halftime. Goalkeepers Pierce Bassett and Eric Schneider combined for 15 saves against the Wolverines, who fell to 0-3.

The Blue Jays host Princeton (1-0) on Friday at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
