JHU women's lacrosse doubles up Old Dominion in opener

Cermack matches career high with four goals in 20-10 victory

Junior Sammy Cermack matched a career high with four goals, and Taylor D'Amore and Sarah Taylor added three goals apiece to lead the Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team to a 20-10 win against Old Dominion in its season opener Saturday at Homewood Field. The 20 goals were the most scored by JHU in its opener since a 21-5 win against Davidson in 2004.

The Blue Jays (1-0) raced to a 3-0 lead on goals by Cermack, D'Amore, and Taylor and never looked back. Jen Cook, Jenna Reifler, and Dene' DiMartino each scored twice for JHU, and goalkeeper Cosette Larash made eight saves.

Johns Hopkins hosts Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
