2 members of JHU football team named Academic All-Americans

Juniors Arena, Bonaddio helped Blue Jays to 10-2 mark in 2012

Two members of the Johns Hopkins University football team, linebacker John Arena and offensive lineman Vincenzo Bonaddio, have been named to the 2012 CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-America team.

Arena and Bonaddio, both juniors, are the 16th and 17th members of the JHU football team to garner Academic All-America honors. Arena was selected to the first team, and Bonaddio was a second-team pick. Johns Hopkins was one eight teams in the nation to have two or more players named to the teams.

Arena, who became the seventh first-team Academic All-American in school history, finished third on the team in tackles with 64, including seven for loss. He is a neuroscience major with a 4.0 grade point average.

Bonaddio carries a 3.7 grade point average and is majoring in public health studies and earth and planetary science.

The Blue Jays went 10-2 in 2012 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
