The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team's season came to an end in the NCAA quarterfinals Sunday as the Blue Jays fell, 3-0, to top-ranked Messiah in Grantham, Pa.
It was the third trip to the NCAA quarterfinals in four years for Johns Hopkins (18-5-1), which defeated Lynchburg 3-1 a day earlier to advance.
Though Messiah controlled the action in the first half, neither team scored before the break. The Falcons (22-1-1) got on the board in the 58th minute on a goal by two-time All-American Alex Brandt. Brandt scored again seven minutes later, and Nikki Elsaesser added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute.
