A new study from Bloomberg School of Public Health casts doubt on the longstanding belief that chronic kidney disease is "normal" for older adults. Rather, researchers found, though the prevalence of chronic kidney disease increases with age, it is associated with a higher risk of death regardless of age.
"By collaborating with many of the world's leading studies, we were able to see a clear pattern showing that both of the current indicators of chronic kidney disease are strongly associated with risk, even at older age," said Josef Coresh, a professor in the school's Department of Epidemiology.
