Johns Hopkins lacrosse fans can get their first look at the 2013 Blue Jays this weekend at the Capital Lacrosse Invitational in Bethesda, Md. The all-day event will be held Sunday at the Landon School.
Johns Hopkins is one of four teams participating in the fall-ball event, along with Cornell, Penn State, and North Carolina. The Blue Jays face Penn State at 10:30 a.m. and Cornell at 12:30 p.m. The day also includes a free youth lacrosse clinic, which is open to players ages 8-14.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 ($15 for ages 12 and under) at the event website. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Mario St. George Boiardi Foundation to support its mission of "empowering the next generation through academics and athletics." Boiardi, who played lacrosse at Cornell, died after being struck in the chest by a shot during a game in 2004.
More information about the event can be found at the Capital Lacrosse Invitational website.
