Description

Join an insightful discussion with Martin Gamache, chief cartographer at National Geographic. He will elucidate the process of integrating classic natural history photography with advanced scientific imaging techniques, culminating in cartographic masterpieces. These works narrate stories that range from the experiences of individual NatGeo explorers to the intricate intersections of the physical world and human observations of wildlife as well as expansive landscapes depicted in 3D and vibrant colors that exceed the capabilities of the human eye. Gamache will present the methods that have been employed during the Environmental Science Research Institute User Conference to support National Geographic explorers, including Jeff Kerby, Steve Boyes, and Ronan Donavan.

This event is hosted by the Johns Hopkins MS in Geographic Information Systems program.
