Description

Join Peabody Conservatory faculty Ernest Liotti, Peab '80, for an introduction to Leonard Bernstein's most celebrated contributions to Broadway—from the enduring elegance of On the Town to the rhapsodic charm of Candide—with a special focus on the timeless classic West Side Story. Revel in the 1961 film's iconic overture and a selection of beloved cinematic moments in anticipation of the 2023 holiday release of the Oscar-buzzy biopic Maestro, promising to tell the untold story of the maestro behind the masterpiece.

Following the presentation, share your favorite moments from West Side Story and thoughts on the impact of Bernstein's music on stage and cinema through live Q&A moderated by composer, pianist, and teacher Robert Hitz, Peab '82. A special thank you to Marin Alsop, professor and director of the Graduate Conducting Program at Peabody Conservatory, for providing the program's opening remarks.

Registrants for this webinar may enter into a drawing for the chance to win a $30 e-gift card to Landmark Theatres to see Bradley Cooper's Maestro on the big screen this December along with a copy of Maestro: Music of Leonard Bernstein Original Soundtrack 2 LP (Vinyl) edition with artist Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
