Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Virtual Grand Rounds: Danielle Boyce

Danielle Boyce, who is currently advising the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National ALS Patient Registry and teaches in the Johns Hopkins Biomedical Informatics and Data Science program, will give a talk titled "Lived Experience in Observational Research: Data Scientists as Patient Advocates" as part of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Virtual Grand Rounds.
The focus of the discussion will be to understand the contribution of patient advocacy in observational research. Boyce, a data scientist, instructor, patient advocate, and researcher, will share her experiences serving on several patient and caregiver advisory panels for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and nonprofits.
Boyce is the co-founder of the Johns Hopkins Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics Research Community and leads the Grants Accelerator initiative, which has been awarded $5.41 million for Johns Hopkins investigators since October 2021 with funding from National Science Foundation, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, FDA, and the CDC.
