Johns Hopkins Global Surgery Initiative (JHGSI)

Description

The Johns Hopkins Global Surgery Initiative (JHGSI) will host the Johns Hopkins Global Surgery Symposium in person in Baltimore with virtual options available for portions of the day. Breakfast, lunch, and happy hour refreshments will be provided.

Special guest speakers include:

  • Kee Park (neurosurgeon, director of policy and advocacy at the Harvard Program in Global Surgery and Social Change)
  • Salome Maswime (obstetrician-gynecologist, associate professor and head of global surgery at the University of Cape Town in South Africa)
  • Rick Redett (director of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins, ReSurge International board member).

Schedule:

  • 8:45-9:15 a.m.: Registration and breakfast
  • 9:15-9:30 a.m.: Introductory remarks
  • 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Plenary talks
  • 1-1:45 p.m.: Lunch
  • 1:45-5:15 p.m.: Breakout sessions
  • 5:15-6:30 p.m.: Happy hour
