A collage of three Black-centric pieces of art: a mixed-media image of a Black woman in profile wearing a veil with a small child partially covered at her side, against a golden background; a statue of a male face with dreadlocks, facial hair, and a toothy smile; and a painting of a a Black man wearing a white shirt and a Star of David necklack with saint-like rays behind his head and a couple glass jars in front of him, bees buzzing near his shoulder

Description

The Peabody Institute's Black Student Union presents an afternoon of performances as they take inspiration from contemporary works on view in the Italian Renaissance and Baroque galleries. In honor of Black History Month, students have selected music and dance pieces to perform in dialogue with Activating the Renaissance, currently on view at the Walters Art Museum through February 26.

Presented in partnership with the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
