Native American Heritage Month Program
Description
Join a hybrid Native American Heritage Month Program at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, featuring speakers Donald Warne and Melissa Walls, co-directors of the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health. Warne will present "Toward Understanding the Treaty Basis for the American Indian Health System followed by Wall presenting "Indigenous Public Health Research: Representation Matters." Additional cultural presentations will accompany the program.
Arrive early and peruse the informative display "Why Treaties Matter," hosted by the Bloomberg School of Public Health from Nov. 1 through 15. "Why Treaties Matter" explores how treaties affected the lands and lifeways of the Indigenous peoples, with examples from the Great Lakes and Great Plains regions, and why these binding agreements between nations still matter today.
