Description

Author Tim Wendel finished his writing master's degree from the Johns Hopkins MA in Writing Program with a thesis-project novel about Billy Bryan, a minor-league baseball catcher trying to track down a Cuban pitcher named Fidel with a mean bender in pre-revolutionary Havana. Twenty years after Castro's Curveball, Wendel returns Bryan to El Caiman in the sequel, Escape from Castro's Cuba, as the American gets involved in a scheme to ferry an athlete off the island. Wendel, now a Johns Hopkins writer-in-residence, reads from and discusses his new novel with Vicki Valosik, 2013 (MA), the editorial director and adjunct instructor at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, for the debut of Author Chats, a new monthly virtual reading series organized and hosted by students and alumni of the MA program.

The virtual event takes place over Zoom, and registration is not required:
