"Being Other": A Community Discussion Series
Description
2020 brought us more than a pandemic. During this unprecedented time, the rights of the LGBTQIA community continue to claim the spotlight. Even as the Supreme Court ruled to protect gay, lesbian, and transgender employees from discrimination based on sex, across the U.S., more than 100 bills at the state level have been introduced to curb the rights of transgender people. Join this panel of LGBTQIA members of the Johns Hopkins community as they engage in a conversation centered around their experiences this year. Learn more about the speakers online.
Following this livestream, participants are invited to join the panelists in small-group conversations via Zoom to explore these two questions:
- What has made the movement for marriage equality so successful so quickly?
- What are the most important and immediate challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community?
Come prepared to listen, engage, reflect, and share experiences.
