Description

The second webinar in the Public Health Matters series is titled "A Tale of Two Cities: Urban Primary Health Care and the COVID-19 Response in Rio and Mumbai," focusing on primary health care in the COVID-19 response in India and Brazil.

The pandemic has had a profound impact on populations in urban areas, which saw nearly 95% of COVID-19 cases. Socioeconomic factors, including living conditions, housing, and environmental aspects, among other factors, leave cities vulnerable in times of health emergencies and disasters. This webinar brings together panelists from India and Brazil to speak on the role of primary health care in the response to COVID-19 and illustrate measures adopted to respond to the pandemic. Speakers will present and discuss the role of primary health care in the response to COVID-19, and barriers against and facilitators of this in the screening, prevention, and management of COVID-19 in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Mumbai.

Public Health Matters is sponsored by the India Primary Health Care Support Initiative (IPSI), a partnership between the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and AIIMS-Delhi.
