Description

To honor the memory of assistant editor Rob Hiaasen and the other journalists lost in the attack on the Capital Gazette, American journalist and author Carl Hiaasen headlines this panel conversation on "Truth & Trust in Journalism: Should Our Local Newspapers Be Saved?" Hiaasen has been an award-winning columnist for the Miami Herald for 35 years. Twenty of his books have made the New York Times Best Seller and two were adapted into Hollywood movies.

Hiaasen is joined by Dewayne Wickham, author, journalist, and founder of the School of Global Journalism & Communication at Morgan State University; and Wendy Benjaminson, politics editor for Bloomberg News and former print journalist at the Houston Chronicle.

This panel is presented by Great Talk and the Alexander Grass Humanities Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
