COVID-19, Financial Realities, and the International Energy Picture

Description
The COVID-19 pandemic is a wake-up call that the world may be transitioning to renewable energy sources much more quickly than many analysts envisioned. Because of all the economic disruptions, no one, not even the most successful speculators, really understand what is meant by the new normal in the energy field.
Debra Cagan will discuss trends and the economic realities that will define how both industry and governments—notably those of the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and Russia—will approach energy production and supply in the coming years. She will also address the issue of energy security in countries still dependent on imports, the influence of energy markets on Russian international behavior, and the many approaches toward reducing the global carbon footprint and their implications for the consuming public and underserved populations.
This event is hosted by the Johns Hopkins Center for Advanced Governmental Studies.
