Description

The second event in the Migration Theater Series is a video screening of Thomas Köck's prize-winning play Atlas under the direction of Schauspiel Wuppertal. The Migration Theater Series showcases the importance of theater in German cultural and political life with a focus on the role of migration and the situation of migrants in contemporary German society. Köck's Atlas follows the fate of a Vietnamese family across three generations as they become unmoored through migration, trauma, separation, and alienation.

This event is organized by Katrin Pahl and Deborah Mifflin (faculty in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures' German Program at Johns Hopkins), with support from the Federal Republic of Germany (Building Tomorrow) and the Max Kade Center for Modern German Thought. This film is in German with occasional Vietnamese. There will be a short introduction and a concluding discussion.
