Depression occurs in persons of all genders, ages, and backgrounds. It is among the leading causes of disability worldwide and affects more than 280 million people, with women being the larger proportion of those diagnosed.

Join JHEAP, Johns Hopkins' Employee Assistance Program, in raising awareness about depression and mental well-being via webinars and resources. Although depression can be reliably diagnosed, few of those affected receive the proper treatment. These webinars will look at the barriers to treatment as well as ways to overcome them for a happier, healthier life.

Training: Understanding and Coping With Depression, for managers

An online training called Understanding and Coping With Depression will improve managers' ability to recognize symptoms of depression and guide them on referring employees to internal and community resources for managing depression. Participants will learn how to approach employees who might be struggling and encourage them to seek professional assistance.

The webinar will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Register here.

Webinar: Women and Depression

Several factors contribute to a woman's risk of depression. Join the webinar titled Women and Depression to learn about the impact of depression on women and its effects on their lives, both personally and professionally. This webinar will discuss the signs and causes of depression in women and ways to cope and get help.

The webinar will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Register here.
