If you have plans to stroll down Diagon Alley with your mug of Butterbeer, or scream your head off going 90 mph on Kings Dominion's Intimidator 305 roller coaster, first stop at the Johns Hopkins Office of Work, Life and Engagement's discount page for some deals that could make your wallet happier—or compel you to add a day to your trip.
Through the page, Johns Hopkins University and Health System employees can receive discounts and special event pricing at many popular U.S. amusement and theme parks, including Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, Disneyworld, Sea World, Busch Gardens, and the San Diego Zoo.
Johns Hopkins has also secured discounted gate admission to parks within more manageable driving distance, including Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and northern Virginia's Kings Dominion. Currently, Six Flags America offers $40.50 one-day admission passes and $66.99 season passes to Johns Hopkins employees. To purchase online, employees are directed to a password-accessed discount ticket site.
Similarly, employees can purchase Kings Dominion general admission passes through a secure discount website that offers up to 50 percent savings on regular ticket prices. Parking vouchers and meal plans can also be purchased through the sites, though not at a discounted rate.
For discounts to popular Florida and California parks, such as Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Hollywood, exclusive discounts, special offers, and access to preferred seating can be obtained through the TicketsAtWork and Abenity corporate benefits programs.
TicketsAtWork offers up to 50 percent ticket discounts. For Walt Disney World, for example, Johns Hopkins–affiliated members can get $55 off daily park passes. To access the TicketsAtWork site, employees must first contact the Office of Work, Life and Engagement at 443-997-7000 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the corporate code and become members.
Abenity offers up to 40 percent off retail prices at theme parks. To access Abenity's Savings Pass Discount Site, employees must enter the Johns Hopkins savings code in the employee login box at the top of the page. The user is then prompted to set up an account with a username and password.
In addition to theme parks, TicketsAtWork and Abenity offer discounted rates to Las Vegas and New York City shows, movie theaters, restaurants, car rentals, and hotels.
Jessica Borowski, the operations manager for the Office of Work, Life and Engagement who helps manage the discounts program, says that the discount offers are subject to change, and offers can vary by the number of tickets purchased, or how many days you plan to spend in the park. Borowski recommends that before purchasing you research all options to ensure you receive the most affordable prices available.
