The Johns Hopkins CIR is looking for healthy volunteers to participate in an outpatient dengue challenge study. The purpose of this study is to see if an intravenous (IV) medication called AV-1 will prevent dengue infection if given to people prior to exposure to dengue or is effective in treating dengue infection if it is given after exposure to dengue. We hope the medication will be used in travelers to help prevent them from getting sick due to dengue virus. If you are between the ages of 18 and 55, you may be eligible to participate. The study is four months long and requires the following:
- 2 screening visits
- 1 IV infusion visit
- 1 dengue challenge visit
- 14 follow-up visits
Eligible people will be compensated up to $3,275 for participation. For more information, call 410-955-SAVE (7283) or visit the CIR website.
