Nominations are now being accepted for the Engaged Scholar Graduate Student Award and the Crenson-Hertz Award for Community-Based Learning and Participatory Research. Both award nominations are due Friday, April 7.
- Crenson-Hertz Award for Community-Based Learning and Participatory Research (Faculty award)
The Crenson-Hertz Award, established in honor of emeritus faculty members Neil Hertz and Matthew Crenson, is awarded annually to a Homewood-affiliated faculty member whose dedication to community engagement, through teaching, academic program development, and/or research has enriched student learning and established meaningful community partnerships.

The winner will have his or her name added to the Crenson-Hertz wall plaque (located in Levering Hall) and receive a $500 award. In addition, the award will be presented at an evening CBL reception in May.
- Engaged Scholar Graduate Student Award
The Engaged Scholar Graduate Student Award is given to a Homewood-affiliated graduate student whose dedication to community engagement, through teaching, community-based program development, and/or research has enriched the undergraduate student experience and established meaningful community partnerships.
The award will be presented at an evening CBL reception in May.
To nominate a student for this award, send a one-page nomination letter to volunteer@jhu.edu. Subject line "Engaged Scholar Award Nomination."
